Red Oak Snow

One of my favorite places is a little woods near my house. And once in awhile on the Outer Banks it actually snows. Last year it snowed quite alot for here and I got lots of snow photos. This painting is from one of those pics in my favorite woods. There is a little red oak tree there that was all decked out with red leaves and blue snow. I liked all the contrast. 5 x 7 matted and 1" walnut frame, 8 x 10, soft pastel on Wallis paper, $125.

About the Artist

A native of northern Ohio, Judith Bailey came to art at an early age. She was mentored by her mother, a hobby artist and her father whose hobby was photography. She spent many a day in her mother's studio, drawing and painting, or with her father outdoors, looking for wildflowers to photograph. After attending college, she began her working life as a graphic artist and has worked in that field for nearly 30 years. In the 1980's she moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where she still resides. She has a deep love of nature and has made it her life's work to portray its beauty in a variety of mediums: watercolor, pen and ink, soft pastels, acrylics and oils. She has been painting professionally since 2005 and her philosophy of art comes from her mother who once told her to “follow the light, day after day.”
